To buy or not to buy, that is the question......

I have been around motorcycles all my life, from the first ticket I got at age 14 on the family Honda 90 to "borrowing" my brother's Honda 450, when he was gone, for a quick trip around town, to the dirt bikes and cruisers of my later life. Deep down, I think everyone secretly wants to at least ride one of the big ones. When I was left with that choice, a couple of buddies seduced me into renting a Harley for a weekender. When I returned home, I was duly hooked but I still thought I could scratch that itch with a rental once or twice a year.................uuuh, no. My "buddy" strategically put me in front of a 1996 Ultra Classic that my local Harley Dealer just took in and one that I had secretly coveted a couple of weeks earlier. It was a Shriner, white pure and beautiful. Well, needless to say it was an easy sale and I walked, or should I say, rode out with my first HOG. After a few upgrades, you know extra chrome and leather accessories and a custom tank paint job, it was just about how I wanted it. It served me well. As comfortable or more so than any other and of course the tunes. When it came time to upgrade, I looked at the Road King and the Road Glide but it was the Ultra that kept calling my name. My brief moment of glory was the few weeks that mine was a two Ultra Classic garage. So, I guess whether you buy or rent, it matters not. Just follow that urge to hit the road. There is nothing like it, but beware, you will get hooked too.
